Wonderful World.

So, since my culinary program doesn't start until June 27, I am just enjoying myself a little summer break! It's glorious. I've had time to catch up on sleep, read, watch my tivo shows, get sno-cones, hang out with friends, go shopping, do some cleaning/organizing, and craft! As I've said before, I really like to craft - does that make me sound like a grandma? Maybe.... but it's ok. The wedding crafts for my BF's wedding are coming together.

Summer-time = wedding-time! I absolutely love weddings! I love everything about them... It's rare for me to go to a wedding and NOT cry. Cathey is lucky that I love weddings so much, because I'm more than happy to help her prepare for her wedding. I wanted to include some of their invitations for upcoming events because I think they're so cute and fun.

I found these mason jars and glasses at an Estate Sale- a box of 35 for $7! Did I bargain down from $10? Of course I did! For those of you who don't care about mason jars, I got quite the deal! I am pretty stoked about it! We will use these jars for Cathey's bridal shower, as well as for the wedding. I plan on keeping them to use for other showers, weddings, etc. If you want to borrow them, let me know!

Here are some of the craft pictures I promised.....

These B's will hang on every other chair during the ceremony, and will then be moved to the reception chairs. They were so simple to make.

To make: 1) go to your local craft store and buy a plain wooden letter- around $1-2 each. 2) collect some old paper sacks (or tissue paper, wrapping paper, or newspaper), 3) tear the sacks into strips 4) apply mod-podge on the letter, apply the strips in rows (or however you want), 5) then apply more mod-podge. We made the flowers out of material (instructions to come later), glued them on, and then added a ribbon at the top.

I found this HUGE picture frame at River City Trading Post in Jenks, OK for $10- it was worth it though... pretty sturdy, had a hanging wire, and it's detailed, which makes it even better. (I love huge empty picture frames!) Cathey is having a photo-booth at the reception with a lot of picture frames for people to use as props or just to hang on the walls. We will either paint this white, yellow, green, purple or orange (her wedding colors).  Suggestions?!

We also found these window panes at River City for $5 each!
Here is the before (with blue tape on the glass) ......

....and the after (painted yellow). We had to do quite a bit of sanding and scrubbing before painting these, but it was worth it. These will  hang on the walls of  the reception barn with pictures or a menu for the night.
More craft pictures to come as we get them done! It's crunch time- the wedding will be here before we know it!

On another note, I have an awesome pair of SANUK flip-flops I got last year at Flynnagin's in Stillwater. Sadly, I wore them too much and they got a few tears in the sole, but whatevs because SANUK is awesome and they are replacing my pair for FREE! I don't even have the receipt still, but they were so nice and willing to replace them. SCORE! Go to the website to get your own

 Have a good weekend everybody!

change.

Hello again, and happy summer! Well, it might not be "officially" summer yet, but in my mind, summer starts on the last day of school..... which was May 20!

** Big News ** I'm going to be taking some time off from teaching to attend Culinary School at Platt College! It's exciting/scary/awesome all at the same time! I've wanted to go to culinary school for a while now, so I'm going for it! Although it seems crazy to give up my full-time job/salary/security, I can't let fear keep me from doing something I'm passionate about. Thankfully, my parents are still letting me live with them, and all my friends and family are very supportive and encouraging! I start at the end of the month and will be done in 9 short months! I know God has a plan for my life, I just have to be patient. I'll be blogging about my experience.

In other news, I met my nephew, A.M.J. for the first time last month. He's the most adorable, sweet baby ever! I can't wait to see him again. It was great to hang out with him, Beau, and Jodi!

I've been gathering all my pictures of wedding crafts for my BF's wedding, and will be posting them soon. It's a process.... but tons of fun! I can't wait for her wedding- I might even be more excited than they are! ;) We're currently working on sanding and painting window panes that we found for $5 at the most amazing antique store ever- River City Trading Post in downtown Jenks, OK. I'm also supposed to be sewing yellow flowers and mod-podging wooden "B"'s for the chairs. For now, I need to get together decorations for the wedding shower! I included asneak peak of the material flowers I've been sewing.

Who loves summer? I DO! It's my all-time favorite season! I seriously thrive during the summer months. So far this summer, I have..... done a lot of shopping, layed out at the pool/yard, eaten at fun downtown restaurants such as El Guapo on the patio, been to a few cookouts, went to the lake for some country concerts, gotten Josh's Sno-cones, been on night-time runs, and just relaxed! Call me crazy, but I kind of enjoy the Oklahoma heat.
P.S. I just downloaded some fun music from iTunes:
Jewel's Sweet & Wild album- it's country and girly and I really like it so far!
The "Country Strong" soundtrack- if you haven't seen the movie, go see it! Garrett Hedlund is my favorite for sure, and he has a great raspy/country voice! Go check them out, y'all!
